It’s been a few months since I’ve updated this site. It seems that my “real life” has taken over much of my free time. While this isn’t a bad thing since my time is being spent on being with my family and raising our 18 month old and soon a 2nd child due in February, it does mean that I don’t have as much time as I used to to keep updating NicaraguaHope.org.
However, inside I have this nagging feeling that I should be more diligent with my duties here. I do feel that there is untapped potential to this site, and the potential to make a significant difference in Nicaragua just needs to be unlocked. However, finding the time, motivation, and the encouragement to sustain this work is hard to find.
In 2009 there are a few things I want to do on Nicaragua Hope.
1. Find some help - I would love to have one or two people who can help post news and related articles on Nicaragua. If you or know someone who has decent writing skills and is passionate about raising awareness of issues in Nicaragua, please let me know!
2. Build a Network - I’ve made some real connections to other organizations working in Nicaragua, and in Bluefields in particular. My vision for this site is to create a channel where these organizations can come together and collaborate. While each organization will have their own focus, being able to share resources and knowledge can make everyone more effective.
It’s a new year and I hope to get back into gear with respect to Nicaragua Hope. There’s something special here and I’m excited to see what happens (despite my periodic lapses, but you can forgive me for that, right?
).
- Jon.
