SHI and Empowerment International - Nicaragua NGOs need your support

On the same week, two friends of NicaraguaHope.org are appealing for support.
First is Empowerment International (http://www.empowermentinternational.org/) who had been mentoring children in troubled areas in Granada and other areas in Nicaragua. They give children the encouragement they so desperately need by giving them confidence building programmes in photography, sports, computers, and others. To date they have enrolled 202 children into schools through direct support, and encouragement of those children and their families.
Second is Sustainable Harvest International (http://www.sustainableharvest.org/) who is helping farmers in Latin America adopt sustainable farming practices. Their program helps ensure that farmers, their workers, and their families ultimately have livelihood through ecologically effective agriculture.
How you can help
As you can see both organizations are very different, but both are doing important work in Nicaragua and abroad. At this time, both organizations are participating in Razoo.com’s (http://www.razoo.com/) March Goodness competition. The idea is to award non-profits with grants depending on the support those organizations receive.
While I don’t particularly approve of the idea of non-profits competing for money, there’s nothing wrong in some friendly competition if it helps raise awareness on important social issues and generate much needed donations.
To help either Sustainable Harvest or Empowerment International, please visit Razoo’s March Goodness: http://www.razoo.com/march_goodness
Update:
I just made a donation through Razoo.com to one of these charities. 100% of the money donated is given to the charity you specify. You also get a tax receipt.
Everything went smoothly. It’s amazing how the ‘net has made charitable giving so easy.

Jon, Thank you so much for posting this! We are #13! I agree with the thought about competing for money yet this is a great way for our team to try to fundraisie and do an outreach. It’s an easy way to get some $ in a difficult time!
Thanks Again!

Thank you for telling your readers about the Razoo fundraising challenge! Sustainable Harvest International is in 3rd place, still trying for 1st, so we appreciate all your readers can do for us!
The $10,000 grand prize could fund SHI’s work with more than two communities for an entire year, support over 22 families for an entire year, sustain 100 school village programs for an entire year or plant more than 28,750 trees!
