Sunday’s Best

This photo I took on our second day in Bluefields in March 2008. Our team joined the people at Verbo church for Sunday service.

After I did a small speech in front of the congregation, I quietly snuck out the side entrance to see the Sunday school we helped build in 2007.

I was happy to see so many children using the space we helped create. They were singing songs and making hand/arm movements to a song I didn’t recognize.

I hung around a bit soaking in the sights and sounds of children singing.

This photo was taken minutes later when the class was dismissed. This boy is standing in front of an ornate wood door which wasn’t there when we last visited in March 2007. It’s a fantastic hand-made piece with obvious skill and craftsmanship.

This boy didn’t pose for me. He was just looking around just as I snapped this photo. Otherwise I think he would have smiled at me (Nicaraguans smile a lot. :).
