Sustainable Harvest farmers battle global warming

This afternoon I received an encouraging press release from Sustainable Harvest International - they are celebrating the planting of the 2-millionth tree in Central America. This milestone also marks the 10th year anniversary of the organization’s involvement in the region, including Nicaragua.
Thanks to SHI, these sustainable plantations act as rain forests which help stem global warming and climate change while providing much needed employment and livelihood for locals throughout Central America.

Having been to Nicaragua, I can see the massive challenge facing SHI as many locals practice slash and burn and clear cutting. It will require groups like Sustainable Harvest and like-minded locals to help change the established practices.
It is my sincere hope that our Mission will cross paths with SHI in the near future. Congratulations to Sustainable Harvest!
Please see this press release for more information and how to get involved.
