The real need of Verbo School in Bluefields

Verbo school has been offering high quality private education for poor children by giving kids access to the best teachers and programs (including a much needed food program offering breakfast to students). Verbo’s gracious outreach is critical for children who would otherwise be marginalized elsewhere or not receive education at all.
… we endeavour to serve students with severe economic or social challenges, learning problems and other factors that often lead to rejection by other schools. We have seen so many positive results intellectually, spiritually and academically
However, due to the national increase in teacher’s salary in Nicaragua, Verbo has been forced to increase their wages to remain competitive. This means that Verbo’s operating costs have jumped in 2008 forcing them to operate with a $57,000 USD deficit unless donors can be found to help.
Because of the critical economical situation of our country, the high rate of unemployment and the government-imposed increase in teachers’ salaries, we have seen our expenses rise and are facing a critical deficit. Our 2008 projected income is USD $ 33,000.00. Our projected expenses will be USD $ 70,000.00, leaving us with a forecasted deficit of USD $ 57,000.00.
Ever since starting this website back in March, I’ve been drawn to helping the children at the Verbo school. I’ve been soliciting donations from people to help sponsor a child at the school, but now we see that the need is much bigger than that! We need to make sure that the children have a school to go to in the first place!
There is a real need in Bluefields - we understand now what it is. The question now is: who will step forward and help? Who will make the sacrifice?
Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. - James 2: 15-17
