Transportation strike over - new concerns arise

A few days ago Pastor Ed told me that the transportation strike has been making life difficult in Bluefields. But it would appear that the strike is now over with the announcement of a government fuel subsidy to help taxis and buses across Nicaragua.
After 12 days and upsetting the routines of everyday Nicas, the cost of diesel will drop $1.30 per gallon making it the cheapest in Central America at $3.15/gallon.
However, President Ortega at the same time announced that the cost of gasoline and diesel will increase for everyone else sparking fears that food prices will escalate yet again. It would seem that the new subsidy appeases transportation workers, but offers little comfort to everyone else.
