Aside from two little girls we know being the poster children on the website, Verbo is now on the OrphaNetwork.

This page describes what we know as “The Feeding Program” run by Meyda and Verbo. The figures are interesting as it gives some insight into how much it costs to run the program and some details about Verbo’s plans. Studies have shown that students who are well fed also perform better at school.

When we were in Bluefields in March, we stayed at the house next door to Meyda. Every morning and noon, children on their way to and from school would stop at the house for a meal. Many of these children come from poor or broken families, and finding a meal at Meyda’s is a sanctuary from all that.

In the many conversations I had with Meyda, I really got the sense that she loves her kids very much. Her eyes are sharp and attentive, and her heart is compassionate and loving. Yet she is firm and knows what is best for the kids.

On the OrphaNetwork page, there is a “Church partners” section that lists the following churches:

I’m interested in connecting with these churches to see how we can work together to help Verbo.

It looks like Coco and Verbo are going in different directions. We discovered in March, it’s possible that Coco did not want to move from her location and risk losing proximity to the children she helps.
